Pastor’s Biography
Reverend Dr. Stephen W. Pogue is a native of Roselle, N.J. He graduated from Cranford High School in 1983 and joined the United States Air Force in 1984. He remained enlisted until 1988. He graduated from Nyack College in 1998 with a B.S. Degree in Bible and Pastoral Ministries. While there, he served as President of the African American Association of Cultural Exchange (AAACE) Club and the Presidents Advisory Panel on Cultural Enrichment (PAPCE) for two years. Rev. Pogue is currently vice president of the Alumni Association of Nyack College. He is also a graduate of Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, NY where he received the Masters of Divinity Degree in May 2005. In May 2011 Rev. Dr. Pogue recieved the Doctor of Ministry Degree from McCormicks Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
In 2001, he was appointed Pastor of the Greater Hood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Harlem, N.Y. where he served until September 2006. He served in the New York Conference in a variety of capacities. Rev. Pogue is also Co-Founder with Hip Hop pioneer Kurtis Blow of the Hip Hop Church in Harlem New York. The Hip Hop Church has been in a variety of national and international print media including Jet Magazine. Hip Hop Church has also been seen internationally as well as on many local cable networks and nationally on CBS, ABC, NBC, MTV, BET, and CNN.
Rev. Dr. Pogue is currently the Pastor of Greater Cooper A.M.E. Zion Church in Oakland California. Where he serves the California Conference in a variety of capacities, including chair of the conference finance committee, and Conference Studies comittee for the Conference. Rev. Dr. Pogue is a very sought after preacher and workshop leader.
He is married to the lovely Iris Pogue and they have three children, Stephen, Stephany, and Deanna. A dynamic preacher and gregarious leader, The Lord continues to use Rev. Dr. Pogue to reach all people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
